Advantage |
Further
improved design of feeding tray (MK2). By lowering the engine in design,
the noise levels are lowered for the operator. The hinges of the feeding
tray allow easy and quick access for inspection and cleaning. The
additional buffer storage at the left can store clean tubers. Reduced
vibrations and noise levels due to reinforced frame. Easy to transport
with wheel axle unit below the frame |
Disadvantage |
The optimum shape of the feeding tray is still difficult
to copy. The distribution of particles is wide as the grating duration
is very short while in general the mashed cassava is still coarse.
Coarser mash might still contain certain levels of cyanide as not all
the cells have been damaged mechanically |

steel work |

Fuel Consumption |

Advantage |
This
design is further simplified in an attempt to lower the construction
cost, weight of the equipment to ease on-farm transportation, and
to enhance ease of operation. Feeding of tubers is simplified and
easy. The unit can be fitted with either: (1) metal sheet drum, like
the MK 1-3; (2) hacksaw blade drum, based on Latin American models);
the hacksaw blades can be either mounted in a wooden drum or a metal
pipe; (3) wooden drum with pins (based on Vietnamese models) making
the model ideal for fine grating and starch extraction |
Disadvantage |
The
distribution of particles is wide as the grating duration is very
short while in general the mashed cassava is still coarse. Coarser
mash might still contain certain levels of cyanide as not all the
cells have been damaged mechanically |
